If we review the news headlines of recent weeks, we can see how cybersecurity incidents are increasingly being reported here in Uruguay. We can observe this at the regional and global levels on international portals.
Given the nature of the data linked to the healthcare sector, and the statistics that have shown that this data is becoming of greater interest to cybercriminals, a state of national and regional concern and alert is beginning to emerge.
In this post, I share the IDB (Inter-American Development Bank) publication entitled “Protecting Digital Healthcare: A Cybersecurity Guide for the Healthcare Sector.“(1) (Available in Spanish and English)
It describes different frameworks, guides, and controls to address the problem. It also proposes a practical methodology to identify risks, implement controls, and foster a culture of cybersecurity in healthcare organizations. The latter is very important.
